Overview

Acker Bilk’s career is one of British music’s success stories. His first smash hit, Stranger On The Shore, was the first ever record to reach number one in the US and the UK simultaneously, and his popularity since then remains as great as ever. A great personality and now an octogenarian, he is known for his trademark goatee, bowler hat, striped waistcoat and his
wonderful clarinet playing. In 2008 he was awarded The Worshipful Company of Musicians Silver Medal for Lifetime Achievement.
